In a groundbreaking move that’s set to redefine the landscape of generative artificial intelligence (AI), Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its model selection through a collaboration with Anthropic, an AI safety and research company renowned for its cutting-edge advancements.

The spotlight shines brightly on Anthropic’s Claude 3 family of models, with Claude 3 Sonnet making its much-anticipated debut on Amazon Bedrock today.

Amazon Bedrock, AWS’s premier platform, offers customers secure and straightforward access to an unparalleled range of high-performing, fully managed large language models (LLMs) and other foundational models (FMs).

This expansion is not just about widening the selection of generative AI models; it’s about enhancing the capacity of businesses of all sizes to swiftly test, build, and deploy generative AI applications across their organizations.

With the integration of Anthropic’s Claude 3 models, Amazon Bedrock is now poised to offer an even broader and more comprehensive set of tools and capabilities, including best-in-class retrieval augmented generation, guardrails, model evaluation, and AI-powered agents.

During his keynote at AWS re: Invent 2023, AWS CEO Adam Selipsky highlighted the importance of this collaboration, marking it as a pivotal moment for AWS and its customers.

People are really excited about the new model to which Amazon replied through their X account:

The inclusion of Anthropic’s Claude 3 models into Amazon Bedrock’s arsenal is a testament to AWS’s commitment to driving innovation and reinventing end-user experiences through responsible AI.

The Claude 3 family from Anthropic is notable for its state-of-the-art accuracy, performance, speed, and cost-efficiency.

Among its stars, Claude 3 Opus has already set a new benchmark by outperforming existing models, including OpenAI’s GPT-4, in reasoning, math, and coding tasks. Claude 3 Sonnet, lauded for its optimal blend of skills and speed, offers twice the speed of its predecessors for the majority of workloads while maintaining higher levels of intelligence.

Meanwhile, Claude 3 Haiku emerges as a cost-effective option for its intelligence category, boasting near-instant responsiveness and human-like interaction capabilities.

These models excel across a spectrum of tasks, from coding to understanding multiple non-English languages, with significantly reduced hallucinations and heightened accuracy compared to their predecessors.

Amazon said in their official blog post, “The new, cutting-edge additions from Anthropic broaden Amazon Bedrock’s range of generative AI models (which already includes those from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, Stability AI, and Amazon), further empowering customers with model choices to develop generative AI applications to drive innovation and reinvent end-user experiences.

Their enhanced steerability and ability to adhere to complex, multi-step instructions and brand voice guidelines make them particularly valuable for customer-facing applications.

Additionally, their advanced vision capabilities enable the processing of diverse data formats and the analysis of visual data, meeting the growing demand for models adept at understanding charts, graphs, technical diagrams, and more.

Amazon Bedrock customers are already leveraging these groundbreaking models to automate tasks, create innovative user-facing applications, and accelerate research and development across various sectors.

People are really excited to test this out in their region:

The integration of Anthropic’s Claude 3 family into AWS’s ecosystem marks a significant milestone in the evolution of generative AI, promising to revolutionize how organizations operate and the experiences they create for their customers. With AWS at the helm, the journey towards more intelligent, efficient, and versatile generative AI applications is just beginning.
