Google.org is providing $10 million in funding to America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to support AI training and resources for small businesses.

This funding will establish America’s SBDC AI U, an AI training program designed to help small business owners learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve their operations.

AI Clinics will be set up at SBDCs located on university and community college campuses to offer hands-on instruction and consulting, with the assistance of AI Clinic Advisors and university or community college students.

The SBDC will also receive scholarships for the ‘Google AI Essentialscourse, which will be used to train AI Clinic Advisors who will assist small businesses in using AI technologies.

Additionally, Google’s “Grow with Google” program is launching an on-demand AI training course to help small businesses make the most of the company’s AI tools.

This course includes case studies, demos, and hands-on activities, such as exercises in prompting, to support practical learning.

The “Grow with Google AI” workshop will be added as a module in the AI U curriculum developed by America’s SBDC.

These workshops will be led by “Grow with Google” Digital Coaches who will provide local training across the U.S., helping small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) understand and use AI tools in their everyday work.

Small business owners can connect with these digital coaches for specific advice tailored to their needs.

Lisa Gevelber, the founder of Grow with Google, explained the broader impact of these efforts in an official blog, stating, “Today’s announcement builds on the impact of Google.org’s $75 million AI Opportunity Fund, which will help over 1 million Americans learn essential AI skills by providing funding to top workforce development and education organizations across the country.

Through these new initiatives, Google.org aims to equip more small businesses and entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow and thrive with AI.”

The AI training course is free and on-demand, allowing businesses to learn at their own speed. AI Clinic Advisors and students from partner institutions will provide practical, hands-on support to small business owners, helping them apply AI tools to real-world situations.

The workshops will include real-world case studies and demonstrations that show how AI can be used in different areas, such as customer service, inventory management, and marketing.

Recent findings show that 82% of small business leaders using AI have seen positive results, such as better productivity, increased sales, and improved decision-making.

This initiative emphasizes the need for businesses to keep up with AI developments as the technology continues to change and create new ways to improve business operations.

Google’s $10 million investment is a major effort to make AI tools and training more accessible, ensuring that small businesses are not left behind in the digital age.
