In a video, recorded at San Francisco’s AGI House, he can be heard saying, “We definitely messed up on the image generation. I think it was mostly due to just not thorough testing. It definitely, for good reasons, upset a lot of people.”

Labeling Gemini as a “work in progress,” he conceded that the AI had not undergone thorough testing, leading to significant errors that sparked widespread concern.

Gemini’s image generation feature, in particular, faced backlash for producing historically and racially inaccurate depictions, such as diverse portrayals of Nazis and inappropriate images of historical figures like Adolf Hitler, the pope, and medieval Viking warriors.
