So, Daniel, What inspired you to create Latenode?

Daniel: The inspiration for Latenode came from our Chief Technical Officer, who spent over a decade working with various automation platforms. He noticed recurring limitations with no-code solutions, which often lock users into predefined functionalities, making them inflexible for more complex tasks.

When Integromat rebranded to make.com and significantly increased its pricing, it became clear that the market needed a more flexible, cost-effective solution. With profits from our other businesses, we decided to develop Latenode, which has been growing for three years, with the last year focused on active marketing.

As the Chief Marketing Officer, my background in marketing, rather than programming, has allowed me to quickly learn about AI-driven automation and how to use custom code for complex integrations and data transformations. This diverse experience has been invaluable in shaping Latenode’s unique offerings.

How long have you been with Latenode?

Daniel: I joined Latenode a year ago when we transitioned from slow development to a more aggressive marketing strategy. As we identified gaps in the market, we realized the potential for Latenode to fill them, leading to a more focused and intensive development phase.

Can you share any data from your market research before building Latenode?

Daniel: Certainly. The rise of no-code and low-code solutions has made programming more accessible, turning it into a commodity skill. This trend was a significant driver behind Latenode. As a marketer without a technical background, I quickly became proficient in automation tools, highlighting the need for a platform that could serve both technical and non-technical users. Our research showed a clear market gap where businesses needed more flexible and cost-effective automation solutions, which Latenode aims to fill.

What is Latenode’s core mission?

Daniel Vasilyeu: Latenode’s mission is to democratize automation by making it accessible to everyone, regardless of their technical background. We aim to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical users, allowing the latter to bring their ideas to life without coding. At the same time, we provide technical users with the tools they need to build sophisticated solutions quickly and efficiently.

What is the vision of Latenode?

Daniel: Our vision is to create a platform where complex automations can be built quickly, whether by using no-code tools or incorporating custom code. We want to empower users to create powerful integrations and automations without the typical constraints imposed by other platforms. This vision extends to making Latenode a cost-effective solution that doesn’t charge per operation but instead uses a more flexible pricing model based on execution time.

How does Latenode differentiate itself from other no-code automation platforms?

Daniel: Latenode differentiates itself from other no-code platforms by offering a unique combination of no-code and custom code capabilities enhanced by artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional no-code platforms that often require multiple steps for complex data transformations, Latenode allows users to simplify processes with custom code, significantly reducing the number of operations.

The platform charges based on execution time rather than per operation, making it a more cost-effective solution. Additionally, Latenode supports self-hosted solutions, providing greater flexibility without extensive infrastructure management.

While platforms like Zapier might be suitable for simple tasks, Latenode excels in handling complex automations with its powerful AI-driven code generation and flexible pricing model. However, it is still working on expanding its integration library, particularly with meta products like Facebook, which poses a temporary challenge.

What are Latenode’s biggest strengths and weaknesses compared to those of its competitors?

Daniel: Latenode’s strengths lie in its AI-driven custom code capabilities and highly cost-effective pricing model, which is up to 30 times cheaper than Zapier. The platform’s AI assists users in writing code, making it accessible even for those without programming knowledge.

However, a notable weakness is its relatively smaller library of no-code integrations compared to more mature platforms like Zapier, particularly lacking some critical integrations with meta products like Facebook.

Latenode allows users to create custom integrations quickly, thanks to its powerful AI that can generate code from public API documentation.

What are the key features of Latenode?

Daniel: Latenode offers a range of powerful features designed to simplify and enhance automation workflows. One standout feature is its LinkedIn scraper, which allows users to extract and analyze data directly from LinkedIn profiles without needing external APIs. The platform also includes various AI models that can be easily integrated into workflows, further reducing the complexity of automation tasks.

For instance, users can generate AI-driven content, such as cold email icebreakers, by simply inputting data into the platform. Latenode also provides a robust execution history feature, enabling users to review and rerun previous workflows easily. Additionally, the platform supports custom code functionality, allowing users to create and deploy custom scripts, such as Trello integrations, even without prior coding experience.

Another key feature is Latenode’s integrated database, hosted on Amazon and Microsoft servers, which provides users with a secure and reliable data management solution. The platform’s flexibility extends to its support for new integrations, which are added almost daily by a team of 50 professionals. This ensures that Latenode remains at the forefront of automation technology, catering to various business needs.

What Integrations Does Latenode Offer?

Daniel: Latenode primarily shines with its custom code capabilities, making it a unique tool for users needing more than typical no-code solutions. The platform offers integrations with popular tools like Airtable, Gmail, and Google Sheets, alongside AI plug-and-play features.

With its advanced JavaScript capabilities, Latenode surpasses traditional platforms like Zapier, allowing greater flexibility. Thanks to a dedicated team, new integrations are added almost daily, ensuring the platform stays up-to-date with user needs.

How Does Latenode Gather and Incorporate User Feedback?

Daniel: Latenode maintains a close connection with its users through an active Discord community where feedback is openly shared. Users can request new features often added weekly based on demand. The team conducts user interviews, offering Latenode credits as an incentive to explore use cases and gather in-depth feedback.

Additionally, users can prioritize the development of specific integrations for a small fee, which Latenode builds within a few business days. This approach ensures that the platform evolves in direct response to user needs.

What Resources Does Latenode Provide to Help Users?

Daniel: Latenode supports its users with a range of educational resources. Starting next week, the platform will host weekly webinars led by Latenode experts, offering a basic overview of building workflows. These webinars are part of a broader initiative to create a community of ambassadors who deepen their understanding of the platform and share their knowledge.

Additionally, Latenode provides a YouTube channel filled with tutorials, articles, use cases, and comparisons with other platforms, helping users fully leverage the platform’s capabilities.

Can AI Replace Human Intelligence?

Daniel: No. While AI can replace specific tasks traditionally performed by humans, it cannot replace human intelligence. Instead, AI should be seen as a tool that enhances human capabilities, allowing us to achieve more in less time. At Latenode, we use AI to simplify complex tasks and empower users to build automations that would otherwise require significant technical expertise.
