“From automation to authenticity, AI is reshaping how we build personal brands on LinkedIn.

How Did I Transition from Code to Product Thinking?

I have been working as a product engineer for over a decade. My career began in full-stack development, but I never truly saw myself as just a developer. My mindset has always been about products.

Whenever I built something, whether for a client or an employer, I tried to step into the user’s shoes and ask: What would make this experience better for them?

That perspective pushed me beyond code and into product strategy.

As I once shared, “I do not kind of, you know, have, have treated myself or seen myself as a developer. I try to, you know, use a different term. I use the term of being a product engineer.”

That mindset has shaped both my entrepreneurial path and the tools I have built.

Why Does Personal Branding Matter More Than Ever?

My own journey made me realize the importance of personal branding. For years, I was a top-rated developer on Upwork, but my visibility ended there. One negative client review could have easily derailed everything I had built.

That is when it hit me: relying on a single platform is risky.

LinkedIn felt like the right channel to expand my presence, but I quickly learned how much effort personal branding really takes.

It is not just about posting content, it is about genuine engagement, personalized connections, and consistent effort. That time commitment inspired me to build a solution.

What Sparked the Creation of ConnectGenie?

The breakthrough moment came when I landed a $130,000 project through LinkedIn. It was not luck, it was the result of personalized outreach. I realized that connection requests written with thought and context got far better responses.

That insight led to the first feature of ConnectGenie: AI-powered, personalized connection request notes. Instead of copying generic templates, users could generate notes crafted specifically for the person they were reaching out to.

This small feature became the foundation of something bigger.

As I put it during the conversation, “Not everyone is able to afford a LinkedIn marketing agency or have a big marketing team… maybe they can use a tool like ConnectGenie to grow their personal brand in a more efficient way with less efforts.”

What Makes ConnectGenie Stand Out from Other AI Tools?

AI writing tools are everywhere, but many generate generic, easily identifiable content. People on LinkedIn can spot it instantly, and they usually do not engage with it. That is why ConnectGenie introduced a unique “persona feature.”

Users can define their writing style, tone, hobbies, and even heroes. This gives the AI true context, ensuring the content reflects their authentic voice.

Combined with a focus solely on LinkedIn, not other platforms, it makes the output more genuine and relevant.

Another favorite feature is lead discovery. By filtering posts through keywords, users can cut through the noise of the LinkedIn feed and zero in on meaningful conversations.

How Do I Balance Being a Founder, Engineer, and Marketer?

Running a product company like Kikbits while also managing client work and building ConnectGenie has not been easy.

Most days, I have to wear multiple hats: developer, product manager, marketer, and entrepreneur.

I often joke, “That’s like every moment of my life,” when asked if it feels overwhelming.

The truth is, context switching is constant. The only way I manage is by time-boxing my day, dedicating mornings to client work, afternoons to marketing, and late hours to deep product development.

It is far from perfect, but it keeps things moving forward.

Where Do I See the Future of AI Agents and Extensions?

Looking to the future, I see immense potential in the intersection of AI agents and Chrome extensions. Extensions automate workflows by integrating directly into platforms people already use, while AI agents bring intelligence to those workflows.

If AI agents can be exposed as APIs, the collaboration between the two could unlock entirely new categories of automation.

We are already experimenting with these ideas at Kikbits, creating AI-driven extensions and exploring how they can transform business operations.

How Should You Begin Your LinkedIn Branding Journey?

If you are just starting your LinkedIn journey, begin with the basics:

  • Optimize your profile with a clear headline and an “About” section aligned with your niche.
  • Use the right keywords so your expertise is discoverable.
  • Start posting, but do not stop there. Consistent engagement on other people’s posts is what gets you noticed.
  • Share not only your wins but also your struggles. Authenticity builds trust.

As I have learned firsthand, writing alone is not enough. Visibility comes from interaction. When you comment thoughtfully on others’ content, you make them curious to check out your profile, and that is how meaningful connections begin.

Final Thoughts: Can Technology Amplify Human Connection?

Building ConnectGenie has been a journey of merging product engineering with personal branding.

What started as a way to save time on LinkedIn outreach has grown into a mission: empowering professionals and small business owners to build their personal brands with AI, without needing to outsource their voice.

The future of work belongs to those who can blend technology with authenticity.

And that is exactly where I believe AI should serve us, not replacing human connection but amplifying it.
